St. Joe’s

Thanks to all the St. Joe’s teens in Ohio for a great time today.  You all were a blast.  Both the guys standing-up to say “I’m the biggest guy in school” was a riot…especially Colin!

It was great to meet so many of you as well afterwards, though I’m not sure I’ve ever signed that many t-shirts in ten minutes.
I know we talked about a lot of heavy issues today – - dating, cutting, eating disorders, sex, porn, and yes, even your grandparents’ sex lives!  So, now that you’ve had a little time to think about it all, how does it sit with you?  Sure, you can blow it off and forget about it.  Or, you can really take some time and personally explore this as you consider what God wants to say to you in the middle of it all.

As I said today, your life is not your own.  You were bought with a price – a high price – the highest of prices.  Jesus willingly paid the price of His own life so that you could be set free; so that you could avoid the drama, hurt, addiction, pain, guilt, and regret that accompanies everything we discussed today.  Jesus did that so that you could experience what it means to live the life He created you to live, not the one the world demands, encourages, or expects you to live.

Living out this awesome life you were created to live begins with a choice.  We talked today about choices and the fact that every choice counts.  This statement is never more true than when considering your eternity.  Think about this: God didn’t create you to merely live a life in this world.  Ultimately you have been created to experience the forever after-life with Him in Heaven.  But to have that, you must get this – Life forever with God in Heaven begins with a critical choice on Earth.  The choice?  Choose to surrender your life to Him by asking Jesus to be Lord of you.  You can do that right now by praying:

Dear God,

I believe in you.  I believe your Son Jesus died for me on the cross.  Right now I want to surrender my life to you and accept Jesus as my personal Savior.  Today I give you my life.

If you prayed that prayer, you have just made the greatest choice of your life.  And, you will never be the same.
